Company Steak

2 T. oil 2 lbs. bone in chuck steak (about) 1/2 t. salt Pepper to taste 1 large clove garlic, chopped 1 can whole tomatoes in juice(14.5 oz) 1 can mushrooms stems and pieces (4 oz) 1 t. dried oregano 1/2 t. dried basil 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Put 1 T. oil in bottom of large shallow baking dish, which can be covered. Trim fat from steak and put in dish. Spread remaining oil over steak; sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic. Spoon tomatoes over steak, crushing with fork. Add mushroom, oregano, and basil. Cover and bake at 350 for about 1 1/2 hours. Test with fork and when tender, remove cover, sprinkle with crumbs and bake for 30 minutes more, uncovered. Serves 4
