Chicken with Mushrooms

1 chicken, about 3 lbs. 1 onion, sliced Salt, pepper 1/4 cup oil 1 lb. fresh mushrooms

Cut chicken into serving pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Brown in hot oil. Add chicken and brown on both sides to golden brown. Cover. Cook gently until tender, about 45 minutes. Cook mushrooms in salted boiling water about 5 minutes. Drain. Add to chicken. Cook about 15 minutes. Serve hot. Serves 4
